Christine Ifen Chuang
Ms. Christine Ifen Chuang, a solo, collaborative pianist, arranger and teacher, earned her Bachelor and Master in Piano Performance from the Cleveland Institute of Music.
During her studies at CIM, Ms. Christine holds many recitals on campus, at Ashland University, in Chicago and the local societies off-campus.
Her teachers included Elizabeth Pastor for piano, Anne Epperson, Anita Pontremoli and Vivian Weilerstein for Accompanying, Olga Radosavljevich for piano pedagogue, and Vitya Vronsky (wife of Mr. Victor Babin) for duo piano. Ms. Christine was awarded a scholarship to the Aspen Music Festival, where she studied under Juilliard Professor, Herbert Stessin and John Perry.
Ifen has won prizes at the Lima Piano Competition, the Altoona Piano Competition, the American Prize and the Maria Canals International Piano Competition (Barcelona)… The critics praise her “a gifted and powerful pianist,”, that she performs “with passion on music expression and with charisma.” …
Ms. Chuang has held university positions for 16 years, lecturing piano, solo, chamber music, Eurhythmics and Piano in Worship. In addition to being a teacher, Ms. Christine holds numerous solos, chamber of any combinations, duo-piano recitals. Her recent projects include solo and chamber performances, YouTube channel promoting performances and pedagogue. She is also active in accompanying the students in the Solo and Ensemble, and the State Competitions. She has remained active as an adjudicator for many festivals and competitions.
Ms. Christine has three children and resides in Dallas with her husband, a clarinetist, Dr. James CM Chen.
